The 『International Journal of Intangible Heritage』(hereinafter “IJIH”) has been published since 2006 in response to the soaring attention from academic and professional field as to the intangible heritage followed by the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage adopted by the UNESCO General Conference on 17 October 2003. The IJIH is a thematic, academic and professional journal, published annually by the National Folk Museum of Korea with support of International Council of Museums (ICOM). Dedicated to promoting understanding of all aspects of intangible heritage worldwide, the IJIH cares about communicating research and examples of good professional practices.
On March 2021 the National Folk Museum of Korea (“NFMK”) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International Council of Museums (“ICOM”) and ICOM Korea, officially arranging a joint publication of the journal. With the worldwide recognition and support of the Government of the Republic of Korea the IJIH is by far the most renowned professional journal of its kind.
The IJIH is the first international academic journal of its theme, indexed by the A&HCI(Arts and Humanities Citation Index), SCOPUS, IBSS(International Bibliography of Social Sciences), MLAIB(Modern Language Association International Bibliography), BAS(Bibliography of Asian Studies) and KCI(Korean Citation Index).
